Dubuque s welcoming community and picturesque landscape make it a delightful destination in the Midwest.Healthcare Organization: Hospital with 263 beds; Trauma Level 3Opportunity: Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Coverage in Iowa Start Date/Duration: November 2024; ongoing assignment Schedule: Monday through Thursday 8:00am 5:00pm and Friday 8:00am 4:00pm. 1-2 weeks per month requested. Mix of rounding/inpatient/clinic Paid travel and lodging Consults- average 3-5 per day; Inpatient rounds- 2-5 per day. Procedures: 10-20 per month/150-200 per year Procedures Required: Cardiac (open heart), thoracic (chest surgery) required. Vascular surgeries preferred but not required. Open Heart Surgeries, TAVR, Endarterectomies preferred but not required, Thoracotomies, Valve Replacement/Repairs, Chest tube placement if needed. Full hospital surgical support staff For daytime clinical hours, it would include seeing new consults and rounding on patients in the hospital. Performing scheduled/planned and emergent surgeries from consults. The CT/CV surgeon has an office, 1 NP, 1 PA, and 2 nurses. Weeknight call and 24-hour weekend call are also part of the schedule. REQUIREMENTS: Board Certified or truly Board Eligible (under 2 years) in Cardiothoracic or Cardiovascular Surgery; must have BLS certification. LICENSING REQUIREMENT: Candidates that ALREADY possess an ACTIVE Iowa License is HIGHLY preferred due to the timeline. IMLC LOQ in hand a must.Compensation: Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included. Paid travel and lodging available.
